As a smoker, this is usually the first thing that pops into your head, right after "can this thing really make me quit smoking?".
The feeling you get when taking a drag off of an electronic cigarette, is somewhat like a normal cigarette, with less heat and less throat hit. High strength nicotine may take care of your throat hit needs, but it still really doesn't feel the same as the throat hit you get from a regular cigarette. Possibly because it isn't only nicotine that we are inhaling into our system with a regular cigarette, but also other chemicals.
The taste, when you first start smoking an electronic cigarette, is kind of weak. It definitely is not the same as a regular cigarette. It gets better the longer you are off "analog cigarettes" though, as your tastebuds will slowly start to kick in. But if you come into the ecig hobby thinking you are going to get exactly the same feeling, taste, and satisfaction you get from a regular cigarette, you will be disappointed.
Some things that I found lacking in an ecig, and this is just my personal opinion, is that if you don't smoke it, it won't produce smoke. That is one of the instances I miss, starting at my cig and watching it burn. I also enjoyed the watching the smoke from the smoldering tip, and tapping the ash in the ash tray.
Another thing missing from ecigs is the aroma of a regular cig. The smoke/scent of the smoke is just too little for my taste. It's one of the pleasures of smoking, in my honest opinion, being surrounded by smoke and enjoying it's scent. Some people hate the smell of smoke, but some also love it. You won't get any of that from an e-cigarette.
The feel and weight of the smoke in an electronic cig is/can match whatever you're used to, just select the proper liquid. The throat hit will be tricky to match though. I believe this will be easier for menthol users than regular tobacco smokers. I've tried some menthol ecig juices and they taste somewhat similar.
But other than less throat hit, the pros of an ecig far outshines any "con" you can think of. No cancer, and no tar. That's basically all I need to know to keep me smoking this over real cigs. So if you don't mind less throat hit, try an ecig.
On a sidenote, don't get scammed by people selling ecigs for $50-80++. The typical ecig starter kit is between $35-45, the should include everything you need. Liquids are about $10ish dollars/30ML.
